Shoes are probably the most important bit of kit you can buy, so they had better be good
The worst thing about any new golf shoe is the agony of breaking it in. There are few things more frustrating than trying on a new shoe, which at first feels as comfortable as a carpet slipper, only to break down in agony - normally at the furthest point from the clubhouse - with blisters. And although blisters may seem a fairly trivial complaint, once you have them walking, and playing golf, becomes almost impossible.

The new Custom Comfort X5s live up to their name - they certainly are comfortable. After 36 holes this week there is not a blister or ache in sight, they are comfortable and look good. I went for the black on white but in retrospect I would have gone for the black/brown model, I think that white shoes have had their day and are now a bit dated.

The only downside seemed that the soft spikes seemed to clog up very easily, thankfully our club now has an air hose to clear the spikes (one of the best golf innovations of our time in my humble opinion), and it has been extraordinarily wet underfoot of late.

Overall I like these shoes and will continue to use them this season.
