| Show Me The Money: Currency & Credit Cards |
Main shops, hotels and restaurants in Scotland will accept most credit cards.
Visa, American Express and so on.
However, it is always advisable to carry some £ sterling - many smaller accommodation establishments such as B&Bs and guesthouses may not to accept credit cards and this also applies to other small businesses.
Also, do not be confused by the number of differing banknotes in circulation in Scotland. You may have a proliferation of notes from four different banks - The Bank of Scotland, The Royal Bank of Scotland, The Clydesdale Bank and even the Bank of England.
They are all perfectly acceptable in Scotland and all worth exactly the same in value as well as being legal currency in the rest of the UK so you don't have to change them again before moving on.
