On
the whole, the Scottish golfing season starts in April and
runs to mid-October. Links courses, however, can generally
be played throughout the year.
Due to Scotland's island climate, the best weather is often
found in the months of May and September when clearer skies
and more moderate temperatures make it ideal for golf. The
countryside too is at its best during these months with the
whins (or gorse bushes) that are such a feature of many Scottish
links courses in full bloom.
